- I was born with CHD (congenital hip dysplasia)& now having a THR (total hip replacement)& acetabular(hip socket) grafting/reconstruction. This is my journey... was diagnosed with CHD @ the age of 9. Had 2 (failed) open reductions, hip(pelvic) osteotomy, arthrodesis- it fuses the femoral head to the acetabulum with screws & immobalized in a body cast for 6 months (that failed too). Spent the ages of 9-12 in Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles. Had many body casts (spica casts) from chest to toes,petrie cast, traction, morphine & a bad attitude.lol
